Elders at the Table

Elders at the Table (EAT) is a community planning initiative funded by the Indianapolis Retirement Home Fund (a Central Indiana Community Foundation fund) designed to bring the community together to strengthen the system that provides food and meals to enhance the quality of life for older adults in Central Indiana. Over xx representatives from various senior nutrition organizations, public agencies and private entities have been meeting since October 2007 to make recommendations in the area of senior nutrition.

CAC’s role as facilitator of EAT grew out of the Center’s commissioned report, “Evaluation of Nutrition, Meal & Food Programs for the Elderly in Central Indiana.” As a follow-up to the report, IRHF asked CAC to spearhead the year-long EAT initiative. The Elders at the Table effort will conclude with a round-up gathering at which work groups discussing accessibility, systems innovation, future planning and communications will make recommendations for future actions.
